The Australian Bureau of Statistics’ Census 2021 updates have been released through various stages between June and September 2022, for almost all geographic outputs including place of usual residence (PoUR) and place of enumeration on Census night. Additional topics, including employment and location-based variables were released in October 2022.

The insight behind the data: Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita has recovered to pre-COVID-19 levels, reaching $80,300 per person in the estimated resident population by the year ending June 2021. GDP per capita is a core indicator of economic performance and is commonly used as a broad measure of average living standards or economic wellbeing (i.e., wealth).
