Data Updates - April 2023

A summary of the Australian Bureau of Statistics’ Census 2021 data topics now available in DataAU. The 2021 Census’ third tranche of data were released by Australian Bureaus of Statistics on 27 April 2023. Complex topics such as distance to work, socio-economic indexes for areas (SEIFA) will be available soon in DataAU.

The following provides a summary of the Australian Bureau of Statistics’ Census 2021 data topics now available in DataAU, with additional topics to be made available at the next release. Recently released gives our team the opportunity to create additional topics, with new additions highlighted below to assist users in comparing data and deriving insights across each Australian region.

Note, the 2021 Census’ third tranche of data were released by Australian Bureaus of Statistics on 27 April 2023. Complex topics such as distance to work, socio-economic indexes for areas (SEIFA) will be available soon in DataAU.

Data is available at a range of geographies, including Local Government Areas (LGA’s), Statistical Areas (SA’s) and Destination Zones (DZ’s).

The Australian Bureau of Statistics’ Census 2021 updates have been released through various stages from June 2022, for almost all geographic outputs (including place of usual residence (PoUR) and place of enumeration (PoE) on Census night). With a recently amended schedule, additional topics and indicators are due for release in April 2023.
