Across the country, 6.6% of persons aged 0-4 years were indigenous in 2021, representing the age group with the greatest share of indigenous persons (when considering 5-year bands up to 75 years of age). As people age, the proportion of indigenous persons within their age group decreases. This inverse relationship between age and share of indigenous persons also exists within the male and female cohorts.
